Budget Reset

What is Budget Reset?

Budget Reset is a Fire & Forget™ setting that allows your campaign to reset to a specific budget every morning. This works in situations where you have Budget Increase enabled to scale your budget, but want to start back at a lower defined budget every day.

How Does Budget Reset Work?

The Budget Reset Fire and Forget™ optimization will reset the budget every day at 1:30 AM to the value that you have entered in the Fire & Forget™ settings for your campaign. If this setting is not enabled, your campaign will remain at the same budget unless Budget Increase raises the budget, or you manually enter a new budget in the At a Glance Report on the Campaign Details page.

How To

Set Budget Reset

Manually enter the budget you want to start the campaign with every morning at 1:30 AM.

Examples

Example #1

Your campaign has been running its first day and you started with a budget of $200. Budget Increase was enabled on this campaign. Budget Reset has also been set to $200.

  1. The campaign had a very successful day so it has grown the budget. Budget Increase continued based on the acceptable profit and spend for the day.
  2. At the end of the day, the campaign had a budget of $800.
  3. The next morning Budget Reset went into effect and reset the budget to $200.
  4. The next day, the campaign spent a lot of money but had poor conversions and lost money.

The campaign did not perform well the second day, but because the budget was reached at $200 the campaign paused.

Example #2

Your campaign has been running its first day and you started with a budget of $200. Budget Increase was enabled on this campaign. Budget Reset is not enabled.

  1. The campaign had a very successful day so it has grown the budget. Budget Increase continued based on the acceptable profit and spend for the day.
  2. At the end of the day, the campaign had a budget of $800.
  3. This budget continued through to the next day.
  4. The next day, the campaign spent a lot of money but had poor conversions and lost money.

If no other Fire & Forget™ features like stop or slow amount were enabled, the campaign may continue to spend up to $800 on the second day and have a terrible profit.

Common Uses

Some best practices in running campaigns include resetting a campaign’s budget at the beginning of each day. For Maximus users, other Fire and Forget™ settings can increase a campaign’s budget. This allows the campaign to reset its budget every morning but also scale the budget based on the campaign performance.

Budget Reset is a great tool to stay hands off while allowing Fire & Forget™ to scale your campaign's budget, and let it make more money on the days when it performs well. Starting at a specific budget every morning is a good way to safely protect your spend across your campaigns.
